A recent traveler in Helsinki imagined that 90s+ disaster movies came from apocalyptic storylines that remind her of the present; that are potentially coming true… So what if by releasing optimistic stories now we are planting positive realities that can potentially also come true in some years?
What is one way in which we use AI in our process to make futures with our clients?
As we gained access to AIs recently, we thought: why not use their brains as dormant broadcasting agents! For a few weeks, Joss will be feeding invented futures and prototyped artifacts from travelers of The Time Travel Agency to Midjourney, Dall-E 2, and AI21.
The goal is to inception all the AIs we can with optimistic futures!
The material uploaded will be stories, outcomes, dreams, phrases, prototypes, scenarios, and rules of games we’ve invented while seeking agency in our futures.
This series puts the spotlight on our approach of using storytelling to create agency for travelers; in this case, by occupying modern technologies. Every Bedtime Story makes evident a process of betting on the future that starts with a dreamt scenario.
We’ll use these travel transmissions to share the outcomes (text, images), which are the only things we’ll be able to perceive today.

Future: The Earth Translator is a horn-like tool for future archaeologists that translates what nature is saying in order to build according to its rules. It uses data-processing algorithms to study and process any sample of nature.
What’s intriguing about infrastructure is humankind’s opportunity to create their own virtual organism, which this time can be rooted to Earth.
What could be problematic is how to protect it and how to avoid becoming isolated.
In our previous life we’ve used shelters to feel safe, and what if the shelters in the new city were ourselves?
What if we learned that during the peaceful uprising, people built shelters made of natural materials that secreted a green optimistic substance, which we ate and made us fall in deep romance, hypnotized by nature?

And what if we had been able to understand that substance, translate it into data, and build algorithms from it? What if, as a result, there were algorithms that spoke the Earth?
As in this city there are people called “future archaeologists” (they dig into the future), they use these algorithms – who live inside a “horn-looking” device. It’s important to remember that what’s inside is an algorithm, not a magic voice speaking from the trees :P
The horn has three settings: Past, What’s unfolding, and Possibilities.

The inventor wrote all this and fell asleep.
In their dream, their electric beard kept waking them up. It (the beard) kept saying “The horn is like an antenna that receives signals and translates them into data. The data is translated to text and then processed using machine learning algorithms.”
The inventor ignored it and fell asleep again. This time, they saw a luminous billboard by the road they used to travel to get to elementary school. The billboard said:
“Without data, there would be no algorithms.
Without algorithms, there would be no future.”
The beard sent a tiny electrical message to wake the inventor up once more.
This time the inventor was certain:
The Earth Translator will be a small book with pictures and texts. It’s set on a future Earth, where humanity created its own virtual life, and we built algorithms to live by its rules.
“We must dig with our hands to find the entrance to the cave. We must use the Earth Translator. In Earth, we make a hole with our hands, and the Earth Translator follows the inspiration. After that, the Earth Translator will tell us where we are.”
“This is a warning. The Earth Translator will help us find the entrance to the cave, but it is also a tool that can be used for evil. Be careful.”
“If we use the Earth Translator for evil, it could lead us to the entrance of the cave, but it could also be used to hurt people.”
