Transmission 016: We're back!
This is a newsletter for designers and time travel facilitators. It has insights about our speculative practice and tools we use in our method. Today we preview the upcoming season.
Hi again! This transmission is just to tell you about autumn.
Thank you for being here <3
This fall we are taking you into two or maybe three rabbit holes or series: the speculative practice of one of our own, AI inceptions, and Finland.
Here are tiny teasers.
Our first USA correspondent for The Time Travel Transmissions, Eric E., will kick off the season with three broadcasts about his speculative practice.
Eric is a software designer, part of the Columbia College Chicago crew with whom we had the pleasure to work for an entire semester this year as co-teachers of a Futures Design class.
There’ll be reasons for stenciling, reflections on Web3 foundations, and embracing new tools in service of your process.

As part of the AI craze, a storytelling project:
Bedtime Stories for Computer Dreaming.
In our last open time travel, a traveler imagined that 90s+ disaster movies came from apocalyptic storylines that reminded her of the present, that are potentially coming true… what if by releasing optimistic stories we are planting positive realities that can potentially also come true?
As we gained access to AIs recently, we thought: why not use their brains as dormant broadcasting agents!
For a few weeks, Joss will be feeding invented futures and prototyped artifacts from travelers of The Time Travel Agency to Midjourney, Dall-E 2, and AI21.
The goal is to inception all the AIs we can with optimistic futures!
The material uploaded will be stories, outcomes, dreams, phrases, prototypes, scenarios, and rules of games we’ve invented while seeking agency in our futures. We’ll use these transmissions to share the outcomes (text, images), which are the only things we’ll be able to perceive today.
We wish we could see the dreams of computers as they go to sleep with dreams of our own. But we wink to the future.
We have many artifacts and futures invented; this series might extend to Winter 2023.
Conceivable guest star: Helsinki Design Week
What happened in Suomenlinna island, Finland with the Palindrome and The Time Travel Agency on September 10th? What is the underwater MUNA Lab, part of Nordic Culture Point? Is September 10th autumn?
It is imaginable that you’ll find out!
Transmissions will be broadcasted faster than in previous seasons: one released every week. Also, the series will be autumnal: everything we can fit from early October to December 20th.
